Yes We Can. Yes We Did. Yes We Will.

November 6th, 2008 . by Nora

Words can’t even express how happy I am to have watched this man’s victory speech from my hometown. Of course, it would have been even better if I hadn’t been sick on the couch and actually in Grant Park seeing it live, as I was supposed to be, but it all doesn’t really matter. All that matters is that we have our President-elect Obama, and that is a beautiful thing.

Copies of the actual Chicago Tribune were extremely hard to come by yesterday, for obvious reasons. If my parents aren’t interested I will probably archive their copy for myself.

Election Day

November 4th, 2008 . by Nora

I can barely contain my excitement… I woke up early, like Christmas morning, because I couldn’t stand it anymore…

And I know I haven’t exactly made it a secret who I support, but more than anything, it’s important to get out and cast a ballot for SOMEONE. So GO

Election Day

Now the depressing part is that I am feeling very ill today. I stayed home from work and just woke up from a two hour nap. The chances of me braving the huge crowds in downtown Chicago to attend the Obama rally in Grant Park are dropping very rapidly. I really REALLY don’t want to miss it, but I don’t feel very good when standing and I can’t really avoid standing for several hours at a time. Oh well…

Good Things

November 3rd, 2008 . by Nora

- husband-made tea this morning, even though he had to run to law school and wasn’t making any for himself
- new camera bag is nice and wasn’t too expensive
- Sigur Ros songs
- being able to see clearly again, hopefully leading to less headaches
- election day is finally almost here (and I won’t have to wait in any massive line because I’ve already voted)
Early Voting
- mostly clean apartments
- generous parents
- sugar cookies
- warm fuzzy dogs
- not getting sick (had/have a sore throat but nothing else so far)
- free ice cream tomorrow
- my new laptop cooler
- quiet lazy mornings before work
- super cheap produce and free dog food

Our New Home

My husband, our dog, and I have lived in our new apartment in the Chicago suburbs (well we’re just a few minutes outside of the city), so I’m going to share a few pictures…

Busy little bee

October 30th, 2008 . by Nora

I have a lot to write about since I’ve been away for so long but for the moment, since I have work to do, I’ll just say…

Guess who got tickets?

That’s right, this guy! I’m going to pick up a small case for my camera over the weekend and I’m sure I’ll have pictures to share.

Still alive…

October 10th, 2008 . by Nora

Though still incredibly busy! It took the rest of the week to finish moving all of our stuff from the old place to the new, and we’re still dealing with piles of stuff that need homes, but we’re getting there.

I finally finished my book last night and started watching The Tudors.

Husband has law school midterms next week, and then we’re going to see Notwist on Friday night and to a charity ball on Saturday. I have to find a dress.

I also have a large bruise on my leg:

That’s it for now…

We’re Here!!

September 28th, 2008 . by Nora

We moved in to our new place yesterday and so far it’s been pretty fantastic! We’ve had a few bumps in the road but we arrived, nothing is broken (though my beloved coffee table has some minor surface scratches that I’m not happy about), and we absolutely love our new place. Our dog, Blackberry, isn’t sure about the changes, but I think she’ll grow to love it, too.

I will be posting pictures, perhaps at the end of the week, when we’re more moved in and settled. I highly recommend everyone have an unpacking party. We bribed our friends with pizza and beer and they helped us get almost the entire kitchen and living room unpacked - fantastic!
